Recently, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. announced its support for the Vancouver Declaration issued by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), pledging to continue promoting ethical procurement of paper and promoting Fuji Xerox in all Asia-Pacific regions sustainable development. This is another powerful move by Fuji Xerox to "prevent the depletion of natural resources."

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible global forest management. FSC officially unveiled the Vancouver Declaration at this year's Global Congress, which is one of its initiatives to help businesses achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. FSC hopes that joint ventures will work together to promote the sustainability of the industry.

As an intermediary in the paper supply chain, Fuji Xerox has set a standard for paper procurement since 2004, presenting suppliers with key requirements that include traceability of raw materials and environmental management of the manufacturing plant. In 2012, Fuji Xerox proposed comprehensive evaluation criteria for suppliers based on three major social responsibilities of environmental protection, rights and interests of local residents and corporate ethics (including human rights). Fuji Xerox will suspend cooperation with suppliers if they find problems in their social responsibility or the environment. Currently, Fuji Xerox uses this paper procurement policy in all 15 branches in Japan and throughout the APAC operating agencies and complies with FSC guidelines and other international standards to ensure that forest resources around the world are managed responsibly. With the reduction of precious forest resources and the increasingly severe climate challenge, Fuji Xerox also plans to strengthen the procurement of natural resources and forest products by purchasing more forest products from responsible forest in its business areas and emerging markets Sustainability.

Adam Beaumont, Asia Pacific Director of FSC, said: "We are very pleased that Fuji Xerox can support the Vancouver Declaration, which is a recognition and trust of FSC from Fuji Xerox and we look forward to more Fuji Xerox purchasing of more FSC certified raw materials."
